SFDS Weekly Update #23- 2/17/23

Dear Academy Families,

Congrats Gold Team!

What a great Catholic Schools Week we had here at St. Francis de Sales. From our opening mass, Blue and Gold Day, Radio Bingo, and our Decades Day, it was a memorable week. Times like these make us realize why St. Francis is so special.

We hope you all have a restful winter break and we will see you on Monday, February 27th.

Ash Wednesday: Each year, the Church gives us the season of Lent to prepare ourselves for the joyful celebration of Easter.  Over the centuries, the themes of this forty-day period have remained amazingly consistent: renewal, change, turning to Christ, and starting over.  The very term, Lent comes from an Old English word meaning spring, which gives clear indication of the newness to which we are called during this annual observance.  The season of Lent gives us as Catholics the time to reflect on the great sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and how His resurrection gives us the belief of eternal life.   Let our next few weeks be a time of renewal and growing closer to Jesus Christ and his cross.

Both Blessed Trinity and St. Francis de Sales Parishes have numerous masses and services for Ash Wednesday 2/22. Please check the Blessed Trinity and St. Francis de Sales Parish Facebook accounts and websites.

Class of 2024 Ring Order Form: This week, the 7th grade was given an order form for their Class of 2024 Rings. All orders are due back to the office by March 8th. More information is available by clicking the form below.

Chicken Finger Days: A reminder to all those families that have ordered Chicken Fingers for their child for lunch that the first round of Chicken Finger Days are next week. Students in Grades 1-4 who ordered chicken fingers will receive them on Tuesday, February 28th. Students in Grades 5-8 who ordered chicken fingers will receive them on Wednesday, March 1st.

St. Jude’s Math-aThon:  It is that time of year that St. Francis de Sales Catholic Academy participates in St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon program. Many children are helped by the generosity of our school community. We have already raised over $6,000. This year you can do your donations online and order your prizes online and have them delivered to your door or you can send in your donations to Mrs. Foti and she will take care of the paperwork and get the prizes sent to the school. All money is due by Wednesday, March 1st. All students who participate will receive a dress-down ticket to be used in March/April.

You can also easily register online by clicking below. This is a great way to raise money via Social Media.

7th Grade Parent Meeting: We would like to invite all Grade 7 parents to a short yet important meeting about the high school process for next Fall. We have learned many different aspects of the ever-changing process these past few months, and we think it is important for all parents to hear before the spring when families begin to finalize their three choices. This meeting will take place virtually Monday, March 6th at 7 pm. We hope you can make it.
