Franny Fun Run-Today at 11am

The Academy Family Association is proud to present the third annual 2022 Franny Fun Run/Walk, this morning. 

Below is a full event timeline and some important information.

The schoolyard will be split into two areas today:

  • The area closest to 129th street (where dismissal takes place) will be reserved as the pre-race area for students to meet and line up with their classes.  This is a student-only area with the exception of the parents of our Nursery, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students.
  • The larger section of the schoolyard, along the boulevard from Beach 129th through Beach 128th is our post-race reception/family area.  Parents are welcome to congregate in this area.  (Please see the map below for details)

 

Timeline:

  • 10:15 AM: Registration Begins in the School Yard - All Participants should arrive early to check in and pick up their race bibs.
    • Once a student has been given their race bib, they are asked to meet the other students from their grade in the pre-race area.
  • 10:50 AM: Registration closes 
  • 11:00 AM: Mini Races (Run or Walk)
    • Please see attached diagram for exact mini-race course details.
    • 11:00AM: Kindergarten Students
    • 11:05 AM: Pre-K
    • 11:10 AM: Nursery Race
  • 11:15 AM: One Mile (Run or Walk) for Students in Grades 1-8 
    • The race will have staggered start times, beginning with 8th grade and ending with 1st grade
  • 12:00-1:00 PM: Post Celebration Pizza Party in the SFDS Schoolyard 

The run/walk for students in grades 1 through 8 will begin on Beach 129th Street, by the CYO entrance to the school and go up to Beach 139th street and back.    Parents are kindly asked to please line the race course to cheer on the students.    We encourage you to invite your family and friends to line the race course as well. 


As previously noted, ALL participants must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian in the schoolyard.

We hope all students will join us for the event.

Thank you to all of the families that have made family pledges to support us.   As you are aware, funds raised at this event will go towards the “Cool the School” project, with the goal of installing air conditioning in the remaining classrooms.
